EDDM Lite 2.0 by the EDDM design team released

We are pleased to announce the release of the Munich Airport Scenery EDDM-Lite 2.0.

Since the release of EDDM V2b1 development release, we have worked to improve performance. This version is a complete rework of the objects to increase the frame rates. We see some improvement in performance, but the number of objects (> 1200) in this scenery still require a high end video adapter. We have changed the static aircrafts to the ones that better fit the EDDM airport. All static aircraft have been redesigned. We added quite a few objects. EDDM-Lite 2.0 has only one texture for the whole airport. This and the smaller object size reduce the download volume to 23 MB. Night textures have been improved. Please read the ReadMe.pdf for credits, installation and more information. For more details download the slideshow "Preview and introduction to EDDM-Lite 2.0". EDDM-Lite 2.0 is freeware, do not reuse it or parts of it in commercial projects.

EDDM-Lite 2.0 is limited to X-Plane Version 8.XX on Windows-PC (Linux not tested).
We apologize for this limitation. Strong graphics capabilities required.

EDDM Lite 2.0 by the EDDM design team (to be released soon)

We are pleased to present the preview of the Munich Airport Scenery EDDM-Lite 2.0, which will be released very shortly. The download is a  set of 108 pictures as preview of the Munich EDDM Scenery Lite 2.0. It is at the same time an introduction to the facilities of the Munich airport.

Since the release of EDDM V2b1 development release, we have worked to improve performance. This version is a rework of the objects to increase the frame rates and has only one ground texture to reduce the package to 23 MB.

EDDM-Lite 2.0 is limited to X-Plane Version 8.XX on Windows-PC (Linux not tested).
We apologize for this limitation. Strong graphics capabilities required.

The Airbus A340-300 airplanes have been released for X-Plane v8.11. Besides updating the planes from v6.x to v8.1x. We improved the plane's skin and the cockpit panels. The cockpit panels use the new LIT feature introduced with X-Plane v8.10. The allows us to create new texture for the night views for our Airbus. We also added more controls, fuel transfer controls, better ECAM and FMS support. This new version is also compatible with Goodway 3.0.

The airplanes come in 2 new liveries:

  • A340-313 X - Lufthansa (D-AIGL)
  • A340-311 - Lufthansa Star Alliance (D-AIGC)

EDDM v2.0 Beta has been released, we invite the X-Plane community to test it and to give us some feedback in order for us to improve the final release.

EDDM-Scenery v2.0 is compatible with X-Plane Version: 8.11, Global Scenery Version 7, Windows-PC only (Linux not tested). Due to unresolved rendering problems yet not fully compatible on Mac CPU's. Strong graphics capabilities required.

Since the launch of EDDM v1.1 and EDDM LITE v1.2, we continued the development of the EDDM - Munich Airport scenery. This new version includes amazing new features and a level of details unmatched in the X-Plane Scenery community. We have redesigned most Terminals and Hangars from the ground up.

The buildings have a lot more polygons than the previous versions and a higher texture quality. For more informations click here.

EDDM v2.0 - Preview released: Since the launch of EDDM v1.1 and EDDM LITE v1.2, we continued the development of the EDDM - Munich Airport scenery. This new version will include amazing new features and a level of details unmatched in the X-Plane Scenery community. We are redesigning most Terminals and Hangars from the ground up. We will also be adding new buildings, taxiways, update of the runway and more static objects.

The buildings have a lot more polygons than the previous versions and a higher texture quality. You can view the preview by clicking here.

We also call herewith for help from the X-Plane community, we would like to include true satellite pictures for our scenery, but high quality pictures are quite expensive. If you wish to support the further development of this fantastic scenery you can freely make a donation through PayPal by visiting our donation page.

The whole X-Planes.de team thanks you for your contribution.

EDDM LITE 1.2 scenery released: We released as per request from X-Plane users with less powerful systems a Lite version of our EDDM Munich Franz-Josef Strauss Airport scenery, you can find it on our site or on the X-Plane.org website.

From the EDDM design team: Several people told us, that they liked EDDM 1.1 but disliked that the frame rates they experienced was not sufficient to fly at EDDM. We had planned a smaller release for Version 2.0 of EDDM, but we felt, that it was not good if we just told them to wait for EDDM 2.0. We decided to go for a quick - rather than perfect solution. EDDM-Lite 1.2 is the result of this effort. It is based on EDDM 1.1 and has 90% in common with EDDM 1.1. It features a 6.5 MB package (versus 48 MB of EDDM 1.1) and should show improved frame rates. It may not help everyone - as we experienced very different results, depending on CPU and graphic equipment.

There is no free meal - EDDM-Lite 1.2 has no ground texture, no static planes and vehicles, no trees. For those who are bored by empty airports and have some performance left, we released at the same time a static add on package.

Add-ons for the EDDM LITE 1.2 scenery released: We also released an Add-On for our Lite version of our EDDM Munich Franz-Josef Strauss Airport scenery, you can find it on our site or on the X-Plane.org website. This Add-On contains a few additional objects for the EDDM Lite scenery such as Trees, Vehicle and Static Planes used in the EDDM v1.1 scenery.

From the EDDM design team: Who has loaded EDDM-Lite 1.2 will see, that there are no static aircraft, airport vehicles and trees. All these have been removed from EDDM-Lite 1.2 to gain better frame rates. But - depending on the graphic power of the system, there is room to add some of these static objects.

In order to facilitate this, we released the EDDM-Lite 1.2 Senery Add On. It allows to add those missing objects in groups (aircraft, vehicles, trees). You can easily add all aircraft and vehicles, but no trees - as an example.

However the more you add, the more performance you loose. You have to get active and try. Please read the install instructions supplied for the EDDM-Lite 1.2 Senery Add On. Have fun!

The B737-300 Static Planes have been updated with major improvement in terms of design and performance. Please note that previous Bitmap versions are not compatible with the updated version.

What's new and other improvements:

  • New texture have been added, optimized the textures for better display, previous textures aren't compatible
  • Improved the rendering of the plane during night (no more magenta colors)
  • Improved the vertical aileron for night scenes, the airlines logo can be seen (added a spotlight effect)
  • The number of polygons has been reduced by 20% which will improve performance
  • Added a new texture for the engine which allows a reduction of the number of polygons
  • The wheels of the plane also changed, new texture has been added, this reduce dramatically the number of polygons
  • Added position lights for the plane
  • There are now two different objects ending with the extension "...On.obj" and "...Off.obj", the "On" and "Off" objects indicate the status of the plane's position lights. You can now use the two versions for your sceneries, the "On" version if you want to put the plane on Taxiway or Runways (in the real world the position lights means that the plane engines are on - plane is moving). The "Off" version is used when the planes are in the parking/gateway.
  • Due to the filename change, old sceneries using the static plane won't be shown, you will have to check your scenery files and update them
  • For those who never created a scenery but have third party sceneries using this static plane, I added an updated version for compatibility (no "On" or "Off" at the end of the filename, this plane has the position light switched Off).
